WE NEED YOU! Anyone who would like to host an event this year should join us at Simms Steakhouse for a planning happy hour. Their drink and appetizer happy hour specials run from 4-6 pm. If you would like to host one or more events of 5 -20 people, then come to this happy hour to discuss ideas and logistics. We have an immediate need for someone to host an escape room near Broomfield, host one or more free summer concerts, host hiking on the north side of the metro area as well as 10 volunteers to pitch in 1 hour at our June barbecue, (free admission will be offered). There is interest in weekly pickleball outings around town, that we could use hosts for whatever part of town you would like to play in. We’d love to add events for ages under 50 years of age once per month as well.

Wednesday, April 16th, 6:30 pm, Country Dancing at the Grizzly Rose.

Join us for some socializing and country dancing at Denver’s oldest country bar, the Grizzy Rose”.  They have a free lesson stating at 7 pm, no partner needed.  They will also teach a line dance in the back ballroom at 7 pm for only $5 per person.  There will be open dancing to a live band starting shortly after 8 pm.  Meet the groups attending with us 4 rows west of the dance floor.

Saturday, April 19th, 4-7 pm.  Wine Round Up-5280 Singles World Headquarters.

Yes, it’s that time of year again to learn what wines we wanna drink this summer at all those concerts and outdoor events coming our way. Denver has their beer festival every fall. We’ll do a wine round up where each attendee will be able to consume up to 12 ounces of wine and have 12 types of wine to choose from. We will use 2 ounce shot glasses and pour 1 or 2 ounces depending on each attendee’s choices written out. For example, one person could take 6 one-ounce tastes at the beginning and then enjoy a glass of wine, (1 flavor, up to 6 ounces), with their food. An even more fun way would be to load up your plate and pair certain wines with your different food items. You could do it the easy way and try 12 different one-ounce tastes during the event. You will have to decide what will be the best for you and submit your wine itinerary when you arrive.

Our plan is to have 1 Chardonnay, 1 Reisling, 1 Pinot Grigio, 1 White Zinfandel, 1 Moscato, 1 Bordeaux, 1 Cabernet Sauvignon, 1 Rose, 1 Pinot Noir, 1 Merlot, 1 Blackberry Wine and 1 Chianti Classico. We will stock 2 or more bottles of each with the option that you can purchase any leftover whole bottles of wine to take home.

Along with the wines, we will serve 2 batches of lasagna, (1 meatless), garlic bread, a large charcuterie, Naan bread and hummus, a mixed salad and a dessert item. Admission for dinner and two equivalent glasses of wine is only $30 cash at the door, (gotta be a $60+ value at any restaurant when you include tax and tip). We can reserve up to 20 spots between the invited groups for each attendee paying $25 in advance when they RSVP. The last 10 spots will pay cash at the door. You can use your 5280 Discounts card only for the cash at the door option, ($30 with a $5 discount). When we have received the first 20 paid RSVP requests, we will drop the up-front fee for everyone left who wishes to RSVP and pay at the door. Space limited to 30 spots, so reserve your spot to make some new friends and we will see you on the 19th!

Monday, April 21st, 6-8 pm, Free Networking Event, Summit Nutrition.

Join us for our networking event at Summit! We’ll be joined by the group from “I Need a Contractor”, as well as some social groups. This interactive networking approach brings businesspeople and consumers together to network and grow our group for more events and locations. Admission is free. Refreshments are available for purchase. We will mingle and have an open networking period from 6-6:30 pm. We will do introductions at 6:30 pm and finish up with announcements and open networking the last half hour. You can get snack, smoothies and teas here.

Saturday, April 26th, 4-7 pm, April Singles Mixer, Q’s Pub, Littleton.

Let’s make an effort to meet more new people this month, cause summer will be right around the corner. We’ll start the late afternoon/evening with a happy hour type environment. We check everyone in between 4-5 pm, let them get their beverage requests filled and hang out. During that time there will be a two-part trivia contest with the winning table receiving up to $200 in prizes. Shortly after 5:30 pm, we will do a rotational mixer where half of each table will rotate to another table to meet new people. Each rotation will last up to 30 minutes, so it’s like attending 3 or 4 happy hours in one.

Admission to this mixer is only $15, cash at the door and includes 2 cheese quesadilla and one White Queso with chips per table, as well as one additional appetizer for each table that each table will decide to order by 4:45 pm. Present your 5280 Discounts card and receive $5 off admission. Don’t have a card? Purchase a new discount card for $30 at the door and get into this event for free. There will be live music and dancing starting at 8 pm. No one admitted to the mixer after 5:25pm. Space is limited, so only RSVP if you will be there.

Happy hour is from 4-6 pm, so we then head over to the Garden of the Gods Park for a little sunset picture taking. The moon should start rising by 8 pm and be high enough to grab some more terrific photos by 8:30 pm. The park closes at 10 pm, but we should be back in Lone Tree by then unless some of us decide to party a little at the Red Leg Tavern afterwards. Bring your best camera as we may be lucky enough to get a poster quality shot of the moon. In case of inclement weather, we can still do the Flying Horse Happy hour.
